Executive Team

President
BreeKia Ora! I'm Bree and I'm currently in Semester 6. I'm proud to represent AUTSPA as President for the remainder of 2026. Alongside AUTSPA, I am a Tuakana for MAPmedics, a student mentor, and previously Secretary for SPA.
I joined AUTSPA in my 3rd semester because I loved that there was a place where we could build connections with fellow peers and a group that supported paramedic students as we endeavour through such an amazing but demanding degree.
As President of AUTSPA, my role is to lead, support and encourage our executive team along side representing the wider AUT paramedicine students. I'm looking forward to what's to come and what we can achieve this semester - including events such as quiz nights, sim challenge, study sessions, emergency services engagements etc. Being involved allows me to give back by helping students feel heard, supported, and confident in their university journey, while encouraging others to step up, get involved, and try new opportunities.
Outside of uni I love spending time at the beach, on the boat and keeping busy and active. As a student, I value hands on learning and always embracing new challenges and experiences. I'm currently an EMT with St John in the Rodney region and absolutely love it. I have coached gymnastics for around six years and have recently stepped away from the sport myself, however coaching has providing skills like mentoring, and bringing teamwork and resilience into everything I do. I've also been playing lacrosse for several years and enjoy being a part of a team!
If you see me around uni, feel free to say hi or stop me for a chat! Always happy to help out.

Vice President
JessKia ora, I am a Semester 6 AUT paramedicine student, currently serving as the Vice President of AUTSPA and a student representative for Australasian Paramedicine. Through these roles, I am actively involved in supporting student advocacy, professional engagement, and strengthening connections between paramedicine students and the wider pre-hospital care community.
I value being an engaged and reliable member of the AUT paramedicine cohort and am a regular attendee of Student Mentors, where I enjoy contributing to peer support, shared learning, and open discussion around both academic and placement experiences. Being part of AUTSPA is important to me as it creates a strong sense of belonging and representation within a demanding programme, while also providing opportunities for students to grow beyond the classroom.
As Vice President, I aim to support the executive team through clear communication, initiative, and a collaborative leadership style. I bring a strong sense of responsibility and independence to the role, with a focus on ensuring AUTSPA remains inclusive, well-organised, and student-centred. I am particularly passionate about initiatives that enhance student wellbeing, professional development, and building a community of paramedicine students.
Outside of university, I am a surf lifeguard and enjoy spending time outdoors and staying active. These interests reflect my commitment to teamwork, community service, and leadership - values that align closely with both paramedicine and AUTSPA. I am looking forward to the year ahead with the team and hope to continue to build on the awesome work that has already been done.
Secretary
Tama
Treasurer
JamesKia Ora, my name is James and I am halfway through sem 5 and as well as studying, I am also the Treasurer for AUTSPA and a LGBTQ+ representative. When I am not at uni, I volunteer for a youth organisation, New Zealand Cadet Forces, and I am in charge of creating a training program for my Unit. I am really looking forward to stepping into this role and working with the other representatives to plan and organise some awesome activities for you guys. Feel free to come up and say hello to me on campus to have a chat, or if you have any ideas to suggest for events/activities.

Kia ora, I'm Charlotte and I'm currently in semester two of Paramedicine at AUT. I'm looking forward to taking on the role of Junior Secretary for 2026!
When I'm not at uni or studying I like to spend my time volunteering, crafting or swimming. I am super keen to work with the other executives to plan some exciting events and activities!

Head of Social Club
AnnaleseKia ora! I'm Annalese, but you can call me Annie. I am in Semester 3 of the degree and will be serving as the Head of Social Club for 2026/2027. I joined AUTSPA earlier on in the year, and am excited to be a part of a community that supports the social wellbeing and growth of paramedicine students.
As the Head of Social Club it is my role to help plan and organise a range of events, both social and educational, for paramedicine students to get together. Although this degree can be demanding, it is also very rewarding. We want students to be able to enjoy the social aspect of university life too!
Outside of university, I love caving and a good road trip. A song that I will always add to the road trip playlist is 'Kiss Me Thru The Phone'. I know, random but it's a banger. I also love to cook, and will spend way too much time planning meal prep to bring on placement. If you ever see me around campus or out and about, don't be afraid to come say hi! I always love to chat.

Vice Head of Social Club
LayneKia ora! I'm Layne, and I'm a second-year Paramedicine student at AUT and the Vice Head of the AUTSPA Social Club. I'm really excited to help create a fun, welcoming community where paramedicine students can connect, make new friends, and enjoy a break from the chaos of uni life.
Before starting paramedicine, I worked in administration, so getting to plan events and organise opportunities for students is right up my alley. Before coming to AUT, I also volunteered with the SPCA as a Canine Care Assistant, spending my time caring for and enriching the lives of rescue dogs. It's something I miss immensely, but it definitely confirmed that I'm happiest when I'm helping others - whether they have two legs or four!
Outside of uni, I work as an Assistant Mentor on first aid courses, helping teach practical skills and support new learners. I'm currently working towards gaining the qualifications to become a certified first aid instructor, and I can't wait to start teaching courses of my own.
One of the things I love most about AUTSPA is how it brings people together, and I'm looking forward to creating events where everyone can have a laugh, meet new people, and remember that we're all surviving this degree together.
When I'm not studying or working, you'll probably find me hanging out with my dogs, getting lost in a good book, or working on whatever crochet project I've convinced myself I'll finish this time. And if anyone ever suggests a karaoke booth... you'll have me saying yes before you've even finished asking.
If you see me around campus, come and say hi - I'm always happy to have a chat, whether it's about paramedicine, dogs, books, or planning our next social event!
